About Us
Tyrannical Games is a scrappy little game studio started in a basement all the way back in 2023. Our vision, to use a cliché business term, is a world where tabletop and tactical role playing games are truly enjoyable, and not something you put up with every few weekends with your friends.
If you've read some of the other pages on our site, you've probably noticed that we are out to change the TTRPG industry, mostly in terms of gameplay. But there's more to it than that. We're not looking to commit highway robbery here, like so many other companies (who shall remain nameless) seem to be dead set on doing. That's why, for starters, our plan is to sell one master book with everything in it, including the player's guide, game master's guide, and enemy list, for $50. And, we're not going to hunt down content creators and shake them down for every penny that we can. You can count on us to never excessively monetize this game, introduce microtransactions, or nickel-and-dime you.
We've got our bios below, if you want to check those out and get to know us. If not (and we totally understand), move on to the bigger and better things in the other parts of this site.
Doug Becker
Doug "Dougie B" Becker (no one calls him that) is the founder of Tyrannical Games and the lead developer of How to Fight a Tyrant. As you can probably guess, he loves tabletop and video games. A lifetime of bad experiences with bad games convinced him that no one would ever make a good game, so he set out to be the first person to try. He has a PhD in Environmental Science and does spatial statistical analysis in his free time.
Greg Pankau
Greg Pankau is a developer of How to Fight a Tyrant. He is a professional software developer by day and a lover of all things nerdy including video games, tabletop and board games, Star Trek, and fantasy novels by night. He has been playing tabletop RPGs as both a player and a DM since 2003, and has played with a wide variety of game systems.
